The leather jacket

I’ve been dreaming, for the past year, of this amazing leather jacket. The perfect one that I could put atop of a simple white t-shirt or even over a classic dress ( à la Sienna Miller). Since, a couple of years, the leather jacket has become as essential in fashion as the little black dress.   What use to be a practical piece is now an important fashion statement fueled by pop culture and the evolution of trends.

We’ve known this outerwear design under the name of Perfecto.  First for plane pilots, then for bikers and finally immortalized as the ultimate bad boy style by Hollywood’s superstar: Marlon Brando (The Wild One). Then came the Rebellion years and soon the Punk era of the 1970s erupted with its patch-covered leather jackets.

Today’s leather jacket features a slimmer, more tailored silhouette in line  and we could see on the Spring 13 runways the fabulous new and improved version of it by Balmain, Saint-Laurent, Phillip Lim and McQueen.
If you were to invest in one pricey outwear piece I would strongly recommend a classic and well fitted leather jacket.

Now tell me how you would you like to wear your jacket?

Birkenstock

I know, I know you’re probably freaking out thinking I totally lost my mind, but wait for it: Birkenstocks are back!! I mean, they are really happening and trendy. I just got back from New York and they are everywhere on the streets. You can also see the Olsen twins sporting them from coast to coast, mixing them up with very relaxed to much more dressed up outfits.

I got mine 12 years ago on my first trip to France. They caught my attention through the window of a very cute boutique in St-Tropez. I remember the sales lady telling me how much of a classic they were and that I would keep them forever. I almost tossed them out a couple of years ago, to finally put them back in the very dark section of my walk-in. Fioufff!

Not only are they incredibly comfortable but I also think they are the ultimate low key pair of shoes. They really had this ''Je ne sais quoi" to an ensemble. I know I’ll be wearing mine for the rest of summer and I’ll take my fab shoes out for a victory lap once in a while, because really it isn’t their fault if they are not comfy!

What about you? Would you get yourself a pair?

You can find them at:

The Hudson Bay

Since it's not +100 degrees outside (and actually raining), I'll tell you all about my Hudson Bay pattern on fabric obsession. We organised this outdoor evening around the fire last New Year eve and I was looking for warm blankets for my guests to sit on. That's when I laid my hand on these beautiful vintage Hudson Bay wool covers. It didn't take me long to realise that the company had lately been reproducing some of its most classic and authentic items such as blankets and housewear, but also a complete clothing line and accessories. I'm obsessed!!!

If it wasn't for my husband's limits and rules about the: ''please sweetie let's not go overboard with this...again'', the whole country house and most probably my weekend outfits would be about The Hudson Bay Company.

What about you? Do you have a specific pattern or brand that you're crazy about?
